Background

Hi, I'm Kat

and I'm a professional storyteller.

“…and the end of all of our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.” — T.S. Eliot

I love this quote because it reminds me how cyclical our journey through life can be: Only through experiencing different perspectives can we hope to better understand our own.

And that’s why storytelling is so important: It not only connects us to each other, it expands our concept of what is possible.

For the past twenty-five years, I have worked as a storyteller in a number of different ways for various organizations — and, for most of it, I was self-directed and honed my skills through trial and error.

I was fortunate enough to have the time and opportunity to return to college in my 40s, earning Bachelor’s degrees in Professional & Digital Writing and Anthropology from Oakland University.

My studies in writing, rhetoric, and the very origins of the human experience have expanded my own understanding of storytelling. They have also given me the opportunity to explore different styles and facets of composition that I had not had the privilege of engaging with before.

I now have a deeper knowledge of storytelling — what it is, why we do it, and how we can use it to make meaningful change — and I am excited to it share with you.
